India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation noted that Air India’s SOP provides only two categories of boarding passes: “D” for domestic passengers and “I” for international passengers.

On September 4, three Italian passengers were issued “D” (domestic) boarding passes while traveling on Air India from Amritsar to Munich via Delhi.

The process required Air India to segregate domestic and international passengers after disembarkation in Delhi. Air India did not separate the three passengers.
